    ” Millard Fillmore” Forgotten
    1850-1853
Millard Fillmore the 13th President of United State. He was born in a log cabin. His family was poor. They raised him and his seven brothers and sisters in a rural part of New York State. During his education, he fell in love with his teacher, Abigail Power. After he launched his careers as a lawyer, they got married. They had two children one son and a daughter. Fillmore entered to politics and won the election to the New York State Assembly and then to the U.S House of representative. He failed to be elected government but succeeded to become Comptroller of New York.
Whigs realized that many anti slaver voters in the North would not support Taylor. They were looking for some to balance the ticket, they found Millard Fillmore. His first act as a President to show where he stood on the slavery issue, and he succeeded with his sectary state and others. Fillmore’s enforcement of the Fugitive Slave Act made him unpopular among many in the north, but he retained considerable support from the south, where he was seen as the only candidate of uniting the party. He signed the compromise of 1850, which delayed the Civil War for decade. the compromise outlined that California would enter the union as a free state, in exchange, the south was guaranteed that no federal restrictions on slavery would be placed on Utah territory or New Mexico.
By the end of Fillmore’s three years in the White House many members of his Whigs party were angry with him. Party leaders did not nominate him again for the next election. But their chosen candidate was not successful either. Fillmore turned out to be the last whig president.
