Everyday Grammar: provide, For/ With/ To
How to use preposition, for, with and to with word, ‘provide’.
Provide (something) With: when provide is followed by an indirect object, then it is used the preposition, ”With” providing (someone) with (something) wanted or needed, for example, I can provide you with direction to their house.
Provide For: another preposition with the same verb is ” provide for” in general, means to make whatever is necessary for someone available to him or her. We often use this expression when we talk about parents providing for their families or to give someone the things they need, such as money, food, or clothes. For example, he has a wife and four children to provide for.
Provide (something) To: when provide is followed by a direct object, we can use the preposition, ‘to’ provide 9something) to (someone) means that you delver or give something to someone. For example, the education Ministery will provide scholarships to all the high achievers. But we can say the education Ministery will provide scholarships for all the high achievers. Both are correct.
